My fire ring is still under a foot+ of snow - it's somewhere out there in the yard. I'll have to kick the hot tub up to 104 and chill a couple of beers instead. :D

The degree of size appears to be larger, its nice, but not the phenomena that I remember when I was 11 Years old.

Every 25 years or so the moon comes up on the horizion and fills the sky and is much larger. They even have a name for it.

Found it, it's was called a distortion

Although it was a wild night and seemed to bring out the beast in all the women at my gig last night, I can't say that the moon appeared to be any brighter or bigger than usual.
But, I do always love a full moon if for no other reason that it makes the women wilder.
(we are 12 hours ahead of east coast time here in Thailand)

Enjoy a great night everyone.

Well, the moon is out, the sky is clear, there is still pleanty of snow on the trails and the temps are dropping - so it would be a good night to do another full moon madness shoeshoe hike - like in I did in Jan and Feb.

But... I already did a 5 mile road walk today, in addition to splitting wood for a couple of hours to help out the local Maple sugering operation, so way to tired to do that this time.

Around 3 am out here in SW Asia, it was about 10% larger and a dark, red glow to it. I went inside to set my laundry down and it was gone when i came back out.

Was on the beach near Sandy Hook, NJ, when it came above the horizon. Now I know how the expression "took my breath away" feels.

I just got back from a 5 mile hike on the St John's river in Brevard Cty, Fl. The Moon seemed brighter than normal but not bigger. It was bright enough to see a couple of gators and several racoons.

The moon rose orange in a clear sky over Blue Marsh Lake as I listened to woodcocks (http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/American_Woodcock/id) beent and twitter.

It would have been a great night for owling, but I was too tuckered out and went straight to bed.

I figured a great place to see it was on top of KY's Natural Bridge, a 55-mile drive plus .5 mile straight uphill hike. Got up there with some dinner and enjoyed a spectacular colorful sunset from the bridge with a 300 degree view.

Unfortunately, the moon rose from one of the 60 degree locations in thick clouds such that all I saw was an orange glow behind the clouds. It didn't even light the forest enough to prevent me from having to use my headlamp on the descent.

At least the sunset was beautiful.
