anybody know of any decent hiking trails in the charleston, sc area? after tomorrow, i have three days in a row off. i can't afford the gas back to bristol/damascus, otherwise i'd go hike there. i'd like a decent day hike trail, but none of the websites i've found w/trails have the length listed.

thanks =D

The Palmetto Trail trailhead is on Hwy 17N outside of Charleston.

I don't know where you're staying but Madame and I like to hike East on either King or Meeting Streets, along the Batt'ry and then West on East Bay until you get to the Market where we enjoy stopping by Kaminsky's for a Brandy Milkshake. Hikings brutal.

If I was near Charleston for the day, I would go back to Patriots Point. Now that place is just cool!!!

Whatever you do, take Swazye with you and put some miles on her... Maybe with her pack too :)

I'm from Charleston and I've had the chance to hike the Palmetto Trail through Francis Marion a couple of times. Its definitely worth it if you get the chance, its much different than the AT. Its about a 30 minute drive from downtown. The trail can be pretty wet in the spring though. You can expect a couple inches of standing water on some sections of the trail.
