Just received my 2011 Data Book. Why is Uncle Johnny"s hostel not listed? I checked my 2004 edition, and he's not in it either. What gives?

I wasn't aware the DataBook listed hostels. Is the Place in Damascus in it?

The A.T. Data Book does not list ANY hostel or other commercial business, so if any particular place is not named, this should not be taken as an omission or deliberate light. Uncle Johnny's is indeed listed in the current editions of such works as the Thru-hikers Companion and the A.T. Guide.

Sorry, misread the above, I thought you asked if it was the place in Damascus... whoops.

But I assumed that it would be listed as C,L on AT. Know what happens when you assume?

OH how I miss WingFoot and his A.T. Thru-Hiker Companion book. It had everything you ever needed, in one little neat expertly written book.............................................. .................

Yes, Uncle Johnny is still there. Off the trail to the left - or right, depending if your going south - or north :) !

Slight correction...

it was Wingfoot's Thru-hikers Handbook (out of print) or ALDHA's Appalachian Trail Thru-Hikers' Companion (still in print)
