So with today's events in the NCAA tournament I officially won $180 by winning my office pool. I already decided any money won would be spent on backpacking gear, so what are your suggestions? If you ran into a free $180 what would you buy hiking related?

What do you need? Personally, I'd go for another Warbonnet Blackbird 1.7 Double Layer.

humm the warbonnet seems like a good choice, but I love my trek light and I've sewn on a bugnet.

Was thinking about a new tarp for my hammock, but my walmart tarp works great, and I'm not a gram weenie. New clothes would be nice too. I just bought a new rain jacket

and Tinker it could be a good down payment, ha.

Nothing is jumping out at me right now, but the Zebralight looks interesting. My girlfriend already bought me a new BD Spot that I get in mid april as a birthday present.

You just buy without need based on what random internet people want? That's just silly.

I'd put that $ in the bank toward another long hike.

It was just a question looking for ideas. I'm no idiot. Maybe someone else ran across something neat I'd like to buy.

FYI sbhikes I put it all in savings to help pay for gas and supplies for my 1.5 month long hike this summer. If I want to buy something I'll take it out.

Transportation to a trail-head you've been putting off. You got enough toys....Go use them.

Thankfully, I'm in pretty good shape as for gear. That would come in handy to renew my ATC membership, donate the rest to Whiteblaze?

$180 would probably buy enough food to go hike the JMT again.
Or the Long Trail
Or...............
why waste it on gear?
Gear is just stuff.

you could always be a donating member or maybe slide the ATC a bone.

I often hike and clean up the trail in the area after summer and winter storms, just me and my fold up saw. I also hike to shelters and pack out some trash, and fill up the duff.

I get out as much as my job allows.

I think the money will go to pay for the gas to thru the BMT and the Pine Mountain Trail this summer

I won $230 in a biggest loser contest and bought a Montbell down parka and a Jetboil stove. I got tired of watching my hiking partner boil water 5 minutes faster than I could.

I finally decided I'm buying my girlfriend a new ULA circuit. Just have to find the time to drive down to MRO to pick one out.
