I'm trying to decide what is better.

- Tell my boss I need a week off and then hike Section A of the PCT southbound into Kickoff.
- Tell my boss I need every Monday off for 5 weeks and do local weekend hikes that span from Friday afternoon to Monday.

With the first option, I would get to have that PCT experience and I'd be certain to do the entire week.

With the second option I would get to do more trips but there is a chance stuff might come up that makes me essentially waste the weekend not going hiking.

What do you think you would rather do?

Option 1 would be my choice.

Both good section options if your boss is cool with the time off. Logistically speaking, it would make a lot more sense to just take a full week off and only have to worry about two rides, also a lot less driving/gas usage.

I'd do the weekends. Otherwise it's one and done. Who knows what opportunities might come up.

Take a week then do some additonal Friday-Sunday hikes, best of both worlds.

I'd rather ask my PCT questions in the PCT forum and hope others would do the same.

My question has nothing to do with the PCT. Substitute AT or JMT if you like. I am just having trouble deciding if a long trip is mroe desirable than several short trips and curious of anybody would say something I hadn't thought of myself to help me choose.

I'd rather have weekends off. Get to see and do different hikes then.

Option 2 gives you a lot of 4 day work weeks. I have a schedule that gives me every other Friday off and those 4 day weeks are great.
