Hey i'm going to Oil Creek, Pa for a 36 mile loop. I have a 90lb. 5year old German Shepard. Wanted to know if I should bring anything special for nights in the low 30's. Well be in a Hubba hubba...I have a small fleece blanket or even a 4 season 3 quarter length prolite pad I could bring. Any ideas???

Thanks!

When I took my dog car camping in cold weather I would have a piece of foam pad to keep him warm from the ground. I also took a small fleece blanket and towel for when he got wet. The other problem we ran in to was mileage. you have to build him up to it. My dog would get his pads ripped off it we tried to do too much too fast. Also more activity need more food.

I believe there several sets of lean-to shelters on the system you are hiking. Just sayin.

1/2 of a cheap blue foam pad. either a fleece blanket or vest. that's about it.

on top of the pad, blanket/vest, if your dog is still cold, pile your clothes, fleece, coat or whatever on top of that.

Better than a cold snotty nose in the face in the middle of the night.
