That's why Easter is so late this year...

The freaking snowstorms up north are blowing me away. It's been perfect down here, a little on the cool side, but absolute spring. I just retilled my garden and expanded it to ~400 sq. feet. Got tomatoes and watermelons growing in my raised beds and just planted peas, corn, spinach and strawberries...more to come later.

the "lamb" was the middle of March this year.... sunny and warm in GA for a couple of weeks before it turned cold and rainy here at the end

I used to think that if I ever did a thru hike I would leave in the last week of march - the "Lamb". But I would have been wrong this year.

As I look out on a winter wonderland scene, a beautiful red fox just crossed our meadow 100' from the house, cardinals at the feeder, snow coming softly down - Looks like Feburary, not April 1st. Dodged a bullet, only 3-5" predicted now.

We had a dusting of snow in Asheville this morning, the northern counties (Madison, Mitchell and Yancey) bordering TN had enough snow to have school delays.

All the ridge mountains up and down the southern part of Shenandoah Nat. Park were frosted white in the sunshine this morning after a day of rain. It was an impressive and majestic sight. I thought I was in Vermont.

With temps in the lowlands around here scheduled to be in the 60s next week, I have a feeling this is winter's last gasp. Good riddance.
We've got daffodils and forsythia in abundance. Hang in there, you folks north of PA, it's coming...

Was even planning to hike Connecticut next week, but with forecast nighttime temps in the Grayson Highlands that are supposed to be same as the daytime highs in Connecticut, I think I may have found a solution to that problem!
