What are the best (cotton vs. non cotton), Where to buy pants for big and tall guy like waist 50 or bigger?

Non - cotton for certain. As far as where to buy I don't know for sure - I have the other problem. I need a 30 length and it seems most hikers pants are 32 or 34.

You might try Cabalas. They do have some good stuff.

Ever been to Jay's Sporting goods in MI? They have a good selection of hiking pants and I had no trouble getting a pair with a 30 inch inseam.

For summer I wear swim shorts. Built in underwear. If it gets chilly I pull on a pair of nylon warmup pants. Look in any big-box retailer for these. They won't always have them in stock, but when they do you can buy one or two pair for an excellent price.

Rail Riders would be a good choice but like Mountain Wildman alluded to they only go up to a 44 inch waist. I know my pair of Rail Riders has quite a bit of stretch but I'm not sure about 6 inches. If you can try them on somewhere it might be worth it to see because they make a good product.

You might consider running tights instead of hiking pants. Flat seams and no chafing.

I agree with RJ- who needs underwear?
