So here goes. I have asked this before but I know how much you guys like to give your opinions and I tried searching and I can't locate the info I am looking for.

Here's the deal: 1 hiker 6"3" 200 lbs (husband), 1 hiker 5"3" 130 lbs (me) and our 13 year old son 5'6" and probably only 80 lbs.

We need a tent that all 3 of us can sleep in but isnt too heavy if only 2 of us are going. obviously we will have gear and crap too. some of it will be outside, some in the tent with us. who knows what will be where?

I am willing to pay extra for lightweight but dont want to necessarily pay extra to save an ounce.

We like wide floors and cant have the husband hitting the endwall.

Thanks guys.

Maybe there's a misprint on their website, but 30 square feet barely fits 2, let alone three.

My opinion is that you should hop on down to your local REI, EMS, Dick's Sporting Goods, Gander Mountain, Cabelas Superstore, SuperBoxMart, etc ... look around and form your own opinion.

Bill the Rainshadow 2 is listed at 42-50sq. ft. and shows 3 bags and pads in the pic. At 78" wide and the listed size of the hikers, it should do them well, IMHO, and the price and weight aren't too bad either, sure worth a look.

Thanks guys. The boys are bailing on me so I went out and bought a 1 person UL by Big Agnes today. If they decide to join me later in the season we will buy a second tent for hubby and me and I'll let the teen use my single.

I'm glad that was a misprint on the floor area. Looks nice.
