Got two nights, couple days to hike. Thinking something maybe 20 miles...maybe in the area of Allen Gap/Sam's Gap. The Allen to Sam's Gap is 28 miles...a bit more than I think we can handle. Any ideas?

The Shut- In trail from Bent Creek just south of Asheville to the Mount Pisgah parking area on the Blue Ridge Parkway is a pleasant uncrowded trail.
It's about 18 miles.

Roan Mt. to Erwin is a nice section. There are plenty of shuttle options and safe parking in Erwin.

If you don't have to hike on the AT the Art Loeb Trail is a classic trail in the area, or if you went to Mt. Mitchell State Park you can hike those trails out and not have to worry about a shuttle.

Similiarly answered, here on WB, several times already! Search for the threads. Sometimes folks keep answering these questions again and again, I think, as much for themselves as for other people's benefit.
