I just saw an advisory for the storm approaching NC. Cherokee,NC has warnings of winds 20-40 mph with gusts to 70 mph. Other parts of the NC have warnings of gusts up to 80mph. Heavy rain and hail also.

This is the wrong time to be on the side of a mountain with 16oz of sil-nylon between you and the weather.

I hope everybody is okay, storms like this help make the case for hiking with a weather radio.

I live in Murphy, NC (Cherokee Co.). The storm didn't seem too bad, nor was the wind that fierce. Is it me or has the media (especially the Weather Channel) really been going overboard with hyping bad weather lately? Seems like the apocolype forcasting started with the two snowstorms we got in Dec. and Jan. this winter? :)

They hype it as if their paychecks were on the line. In a way I guess their paychecks are on the line, poor ratings equal no job:)

I didn't know how many but when I checked NOAA radar it was lit up like a christmas tree with all the warnings.

I flew over that storm last night on my way back to NY. Scariest flight ever. I swore a lightening bolt was gonna nail us.

Guess we were lucky in this part of WNC. Storm went thru at night and not during the heat (warmth) of the day to trigger the tornadoes and hail. Thoughts and prayers to those affected. :)
