Just curious if anyone has done this hike. I read it's supposed to be along a paved trail. I've looked at the website and see that only parts of the trail are completed and was wondering what the services along the way were like and where I might find some additional info. It's been several years since i've been to the Keys.

Thanks

"The Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail" is one of those things that exist on paper and some pencil pusher's mind. They feel if they name a trail and lay out it's proposed route it will get interest and funding.
As the web site states, only a few paved bike and pedestrian trails on some of the islands are a reality.
They rest of the walk is along the main highway.

Check some of the journals online of hikers that have done the so called Eastern Continental Trail (ECT). The do a good job of describing the highway walk and services available. Nimblewiil Nomad's site is a good place to start.

Road walk, or closely parallel.
There's nowhere else for a trail to be.

And the bridge parts of US-1 are pretty narrow too. Not a very wide shoulder to speak of.

I live in key largo. Do this during winter to hot in summer as noted already it's a long highway stretch and the areas are not overly used to hikers. The trip does have some great views of the ocean.
