Anyone got any ideas and locations. I'd like to find a place to do this shakedown this coming weekend. I'm looking for a primative site 10miles in and back out with a water source along the way in Florida. My favorite, Mayakka, has just gone thru a lot of controlled burn areas so that is out.

Go to the Croom or Citrus tracts of the Withlacoochee State Forest. You will not be able to camp near water, but it is easy enough to cache in these areas. I hiked half of the Richloam WSF loop this weekend and the mosquitoes were insane. The days were hot, but the overnights are still pleasant and cool. Croom and Citrus are much drier areas, and I have never had a problem with mosquitoes at either place.
