4000 cubic inches, at least. Thru-hiking, but a lot of gear is not nessecary: hiking to get away from luxuries, not drag them through Virginia for six weeks.

Take a look on ebay. Always some available there. Choices new are pretty limited.

Most Kelty packs are quite reputable and will hold up well. For example, the Trekker 65: for $140, you get 65L/3950in^3 at 4lbs 14oz. I'm curious as to why you want so much room in there; of course if it's a preference thing, then HYOH, but know that for most thru-hikers, that kind of capacity is at the upper limit, and going with an internal frame could save you at least two pounds without sacrificing a cubic millimeter.
