Camping Permits

Good day,
I am walking south from Harpers Ferry.
I know that I you can get camping permits at entrance to Shenandoah National Park. But what are the camping restrictions from HF to there - not being from US I am not sure what restrictions apply to wild camping.

From Harper's Ferry to Front Royal where you'll enter SNP there are plenty of shelters you can camp nearby if that's your thing. Also, the Bear's Den Hostel which was one of my favorite is in this section.

I'll defer to the folks who frequent that area for specific information but as I recall, when you enter SNP you'll fill out a backcountry permit not long after entering the park (there's a self-service kiosk) and then from there the camping restrictions aren't too bad - most places you can pitch a tent and there are a couple of actual campgrounds in the park.

It's not hard to get through the park at all - passing up the waysides and frequent opportunities for food - that's the hard part. :)
