We have a lot of stormwater easements where I live, with a surface that is mostly "flattened meadow", mowed occasionally, and uneven.

It's a much softer surface than most of the trails I hike on, and spongier.

I'm assuming that would be bad stuff to run on, but I've never run on grass much. Thoughts?

IMO anythings better than asphalt or concrete. Too soft may mean rolled ankles for you, but if you build up your leg strength it shouldn't matter too much. Personal preference...

Between asphalt and concrete, go asphalt. Generally concrete is 10x as dense as asphalt :eek:... can you say unnecessary leg stress?
