Hostels away from the AT are a lot different than the ones AT hikers use.

Don't forget, in much of the world backpacking refers to traveling on the cheap for extended periods of time with nothing to do with hiking. I'm thinking that is what this article is about. After a day of hiking who's got the energy? Now, on a zero day......
