Someone suggest that I post this here too, so I'm sorry for the cross posting but hope this will help get the word out:
Registration is now open for a new women's hiking and backpacking conference called The Summit in Harrisonburg, Virginia on June 24-26, 2011. The Summit is being put on by the Trail Dames, a hiking club for women of a curvy nature, but this conference is geared towards all women-- from beginning to experienced hikers.
The three-day conference includes hiking seminars, how-to classes, panel discussions on women’s hiking and hands-on workshops. We also have guest speakers Cindy Ross and Melody Blaney, a screening of the documentary Trail Angels, a concert by Jan Benshop, and fun extra’s like a belly dancing class and sunrise Yoga sessions.
We are celebrating women on the trails everywhere and our goal is to educate and inspire women so that they will spread the love of hiking and backpacking. There has never been a hiking conference for women before and we are excited to be a part of it! All information can be found at www.traildames.com.
