What kind of sleeping bag do you have and how much did it cost?

Eureka Casper (women's) 15F 2lb 11oz synthetic $90

Kept me warm down to 20F, haven't tried it lower than that. I'd like to get a Montbell SS UL #3, when funds allow.

I have a Feathered Friends Great Auk which I bought in 1991 for $260.00, if I remember correctly (good down to 5 degrees). I bought a Rock Wren at the same time for a little less (good to 25 or so). Both had the higher quality fill and 2 oz. extra down.
More recently I bought a Golite Feather-Lite (discontinued) zipperless bag to slide over my hammock. That cost somewhere around $160 on sale. That one keeps me warm down to the high 20s, but it's rated at 40.
The only bag I have which is currently available (well, the Feathered Friend bags are, but not at the same prices!) is the Montbell ULAP down liner which is a summer bag (50 degrees and up). The design has been changed slightly, but it's very similar. Prices vary.

Western Mountaineering Ultralight (20degree, 6' length). Retail cost: 385.00

totally worth it. i've never been cold in it, and been out on nights down to 15degrees or so.

I like the 2lb 12oz luxurylite V bags. It's the only one I won't part with. I've bought one of everything and I'm sure the proclaimed 900 90/10 bags are lighter but I don't see paying double the price for marginal warmth.

Western Mountaineering Ultralight - 375 (but I lucked out and got it for 250. It was used as the display model in a store).
I love it. It's light and toasty. I hope it will last 10 years.

I've got everything from a 1970s Herter's down bag, to a few Luxurylite underfilled bags (paid $39, added down myself), to a Western Mountaineering Megalite I got new for $205. Had a few high end TNF and Marmot bags, but nothing compares to WM.

two sleeping bags, a 15 degree and 40 degree. Model/type I don't recall, both made by Marmot and I'm very satisfied with them. A bit roomier than some of the other bags I considered and meet or exceed the assigned temp. ratings.

I have two Western Mountaineering bags currently.

My older Apache SMF, 15*, and I think at the time it weighed about 2lbs 9oz... not positive about that though.

Currently using the Ultralite, 20* which weighs in at around 1lbs 15oz... I think.

In the past I've used a bunch of synthetic bags, don't know the names of any of them though. Once I switched to down I pretty much just forgot about them.

Oh, and cost. Um... I have no idea. I'm guessing around $300 for each bag, but really I don't remember, it's been years.

WM UltraLite (20F, 26 oz) - about $335 from Backcountrygear.com in 2004. I've been toasty down to 25 degrees, although the first time I used it below freezing (April in GA) I think I wore too much extra clothing which de-lofted the bag.

WM HighLite (35F, 16 oz) - I believe I purchased this on-sale for maybe $150. Incredible warmth for the weight. I've used it down to 40 and been very comfortable, to the point that I'm sure it would work to just below freezing in a pinch.

I've got a number of other old down bags but now only use them to loan out or for sleepovers.

Currently I have a Kelty Light Year 25° bag. It weighs about 35 oz (I intend to weigh it tonight) compressed in its stuff sack. I generally only use this under 45°. I have slept in this bag down to 10° F. I survived but I was extremely cold.

3 Season burrow from Hammock Gear, $229. Cottage gear rules, especialy when you know the folks who own the company/make the gear. :D

+1 on Hammock Gear. I will be replacing my LY with one of these.

To add to what Hooch said, it is rated to about 20° or with the optional 900 fill to about 15°. And it weighs in at 20.1 oz. Not bad for a 15°-20° down bag!

I intend to get one of these by this next winter (I will have to save up!).

Montbell Ultra Light, Super Stretch #2. It's rated to 25 degrees F and I've used it down into the teens with some clothing. I don't remember the price but it was hundreds. As someone who rolls around in their sleep a lot I find it very comfortable due to the stretch feature.

Ha, 3 in a row for the MB ULSS #2. Got mine at a going out of business sale, steal at $140.

Some of the pockets were underfilled, I had a really nice eddie bauer down jacket that met an exploding car battery, end of jacket, unfortunately. Saved the down, cleaned it, took on project to improve MB bag.

Now I have a true 15 degree bag, that is great for a flippy floppy side sleeper like me. 2# 5.5 ounces, 21 ounces of down fill, cozyyyyyyyyyy.

REI Womans Subkilo Long (http://www.rei.com/product/780904/rei-sub-kilo-15-sleeping-bag-womens-long-09-special-buy) labeled as 15F and weighs 32.75oz for the bag and stuff sack. I have used it in sub 10F, I'm not sure how cold it was as the thermometer broke at 10F... I am extremely happy, my hiking partner bought the same one, but the male addition and is also extremely happy.

I've got a North Face synthetic bag my wife purchased for me at the North Face outlet near San Francisco back in 1991. Don't remember the model or temperature rating but do know that at 6+ lbs, I'm not backpacking with it. Also bought a Marmot Aspen Adventurer last year. Is 600+ FP, weighs 2lbs 8oz, and is nearly identical to the Marmot Sawtooth but only paid $119 since it is made by Marmot exclusively for Dicks Sporting Goods. Great bargain bag.

Its a 17 oz. make it yourself down quilt and you can get everything for around $160.00. I don't have much experience sewing but i think even if i paid someone to sew it for me that would make it a real lightweight quilt for a great price.

Any thoughts?

Cost was about $150 and the weight is 18 oz. 12oz is down from Thru Hiker. Right now I'm redoing the shell with 1/2 Cuben fiber, and should lose 2-3 oz. more Cost will be about $190

I gotta say, Western Mountaineering has got this post hands down. Marmot coming in a close second. Add another WM bag here, a 1983 summerlite. Forgot what I paid for it, goes to 32 deg, has an extra 3 oz of loft in the footbox and is still keeping me warm after 28 years. Now it's time for another one...

I am still using a North face Ibex Long that I bought in the early 70's. As it shrunk in the closet over the years I now use it as a Top Quilt in my hammock. I have used in sub 0 degree weather and stayed very warm while the water bottle next to my head froze solid.

Little late on the post but Backwoods.com has a 20% off sale including some WM bags right now.

Current bag is a Rab Summit Alpine 500, rated for 15*F and weighs about 34 oz. Replacing it with a Katabatic Gear Chisos quilt with 2 oz overfill, good for around 30*F and weighs 16.7 oz. I usually sleep in a tee and shorts in the Rab, so I figure I can get the Chisos down to similar temps pairing it with my down hooded sweater and pants. I'll probably be adding a bivy soon too.

WM megalite

25 oz, 30F true rating on decent pad (without xtra clothing)

with my nanopuff and fleece and cap, and longjohns, 20F is OK

In a tent, with the above, 15 is OK.

Meets most of my needs from 15-65 F .

With down pants and booties, and vest, could probably push to 5-10. Wt would be about equal to a heavier bag, but multiuse.

Id like a lighter summer bag (highlite) for 40+ F weather.

No real justification for a warmer winter bag yet, and dont want to tote the weight anyway.
