Just read a story (http://news.sciencemag.org/sciencenow/2011/05/study-high-tech-gas-drilling-is-.html?rss=1) about water in Dimock, PA (~50 miles from the AT) being tainted with methane to the point of being able to light it on fire. Does anyone know if any of the AT water supplies are affected?

I'm guessing not but might be something to look into.

I drink from the water sources in Northeast PA. I filter it first but it is ok. there is no methane problem in this area yet. What you are speaking of is the drilling for the natural gas going on up in the northern sections of PA.

You want to see something scary watch a movie called Gasland. I saw it when it was on HBO. What an eye opener.
