Just checking in here to see if anyone would be heading my direction:
I am planning to do a hike of the AT (or near the AT) starting Sunday or Monday. I was thinking about leaving my car near the northern terminus of SNP, getting a ride to Harpers Ferry, hiking south into SNP and then hitching back to the car from within the park. The reason for starting further north is that I am not sure if I want to spend all my time in the park (car noise from the parkway, more people) and I'm not sure if the park will be long enough to satisfy my hiking desires.
I'm not on a strict schedule, so the start date and start location are slightly flexible. I've contacted mvshuttles, and while their price is reasonable for a shuttle service, it is more than I am willing to pay at the moment.
If a ride doesn't work out, then I'll just stay in the park and try to make a loop hike somewhere. One caveat to this plan is that it sounds to me like there are no real resupply places in the park and I don't want to carry 10 days food or eat frequently at restaurants.
