We're planning on doing the CT portion of the AT this summer as another shakedown for our gear. It would be nice to run into a few thrus along the way. For those of you who have gone NOBO, when did you get to the CT section (June? July?)?

I generally arrive 120 days after leaving Georgia, which generally puts me in Connecticut in mid to late July, depending on my start date. This is a fine time to be hikng in Connecticut, tho you should know that CT and Mass are absolutely the worst places for mosquitoes on the A.T., especially near the Housatonic river in Connecticut and anywhere in Mass., esp around the Great Barrington area. If you plan to be on this stretch in June, July, or early August, bring maximum strength Deet or you WILL be hating life.

I would have to definitely agree with the mosquitoes comments. MA was the worst!

What? You mean the mosquitoes aren't this bad in other states? I think it is time to move! I just always assumed that Summertime = mosquitoes! My hiking has been limited to new england--and above treeline you don't have to worry about them... but I just assumed this was the norm.

I started my stroll on Feb28th and arrived in CT the second week of July. Bring lots of Deet!!!
We renamed a few states along the way. There was Connetiyup, Masquitochussets, and Vermud. You tend to do big mile days in Ma because if you stop for a few seconds you could lose a pint of blood...
