Just done yesterday. We go rain or shine, and this was definitely in the rain! Aired this AM. Even has Jack Tarlin's shirt in it. :)

I live over on Massanutten, and saw your piece on NBC29 this morning! Was the footage shot near Bear's Den Mountain in SNP? Wherever it was shot... it looked really familiar to me! It was a great segment!

It was shot at Beagle Gap where the AT crosses through a bit of pastureland. We just got it done before the skies really opened too with a torrential downpour. Had to shoot the rest on the front porch of Rockfish Gap Outfitters.

Blissfull:

I being am another in close proximity to the Blue Ridge/SNP like yourself. I have followed your postings on WB for quite some time and have gained some insight from those writings.

Congradulations on completing the A/T NOBO and again SOBO...

I saw the broadcast on 29 this morning and now you are somewhat of a local media personality. Good Stuff!

I will be looking forward to reading your book when it comes out. When will it be released?

I actually wrote it chronicling my '07 NOBO hike with my son, but since this SOBO hike, it will need some more chapters added. Then it has to go through the standard publishing process which will take some time. Will let you know. :)
Many thanks

OK... we usually park at Beagle Gap when we hike up Bear's Den. That grassy area is really distinctive compared to all the other places the AT crosses Skyline Drive in SNP. :-)

When your book comes out, you should do 'book talks' at Big Meadows and Skyland. We've seen Jeff Alt talk about his 'A Walk for Sunshine' book there. People always love to hear more about the trail.

You are a great ambassador for the trail and am sure you will inspire young men and women to get outdoors and hike.

Yeah if it wasn't raining so badly I would have shown them the contents of my pack. But as it was, everything was pretty wet while filming me walking (as I couldn't very well use a pack cover). So that's all they could see. Plus the pack kind of stunk... :D That's what 1900 miles does to it. And they were also on a time schedule.

Great interview! Congrats on it and the two thrus too! I liked how you said even in rain you get to see God's nature. So many only see rain as a bad thing, but it's what makes the springs flow, the flowers bloom, and the trees green. :D

I definitely will be looking forward to the book. If it's as upbeat as Blissful is, it'll be a fun, rewarding read.

I sympathize with you. I got neurotic in a way I never thought I would, while finishing the final edits on my AT book. But that book is part of who you are, so it's worth making it exactly what you want. Good luck.

Awesome video and accomplishment. How much did your pack weigh??

It varied on the season. Around 33lb full loaded with my Gregory and spring gear. But I switched to my catalyst and got it down to 31 loaded

Sorry I'm a little late to this thread but you know what they say , better late than never.

Congratulations on the latest accomplishment , you're well deserving of the accolades . Maybe we will cross paths along the trails in Shenandoah Nat'l Park some day.
When will the book come hit the shelves ?
