I am looking to bag a 14'er when hiking the CT. I am going to do Mt. Elbert. How far from the CT is the top of Mt. Elbert. I also see there is 2 side trails off the CT. Which one should I take?

Did you stash your packs somewhere so you did not have to hual them up there or what? Any info would be great.

Either of those trails work OK. I've only been on the one from the south in the winter so I'm not sure how good the tread is. I would guess it sees less traffic. I remember pretty good signage. You can probably find more info than you want on a 14er forum. If you stash your pack, be sure to critter-proof your food (the hand-fed rodents can be aggressive around all those people) and take minimal survival gear with you.

I'm gonna do this one too. My plan was to take my pack up but stash everything except my food and clothes.

I'm probably going up the North Elbert Trail and down South Elbert. They both intersect the CT. I think it's about a six mile detour.
