Just receieved this email from Kate Dixon of the MST..I paln to attend at least one of the meetings. If you live in the area, please attend a meeting
Dear Greg:
Carteret, Craven, Jones, Onslow and Pamlico counties are working to develop a regional trails plan. They are seeking ideas from the public at three open house meetings -- in Jacksonville and in Havelock on Wednesday, June 8th and in Newport on Thursday, June 9th (see more details below).
The primary focus of the plan is bike trails, but the plan is also to develop recommendations for a route for the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. Currently, hikers on the MST are using backroads in this area other than when they are on the Neusiok Trail in the Croatan National Forest.
Please attend one of the meetings to learn more about the plans and share your ideas. A strong showing of MST enthusiasts will help build support for the trail.
The same basic information will be shared at each workshop so choose whichever location and date is most convenient for you. Local government staff and trail consultants will be at each workshop to describe the planning effort and gather public input.
People are encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, fill out comment forms, write & draw on public input maps, and learn about future opportunities to stay involved.

· Wednesday, June 8th 6-8 PM - Havelock Tourist & Event Center, 201 Tourist Center Drive, Havelock NC, 28532
· Thursday, June 9th 6-8 PM - Broad Creek Middle School, 2382 Highway 24, Newport, NC 28570
