Hey again, Still planning a 4 day trip for my friends. Looking a Mt Graylock area. Maybe leaving from Cheshire, Ma north on the AT and do some side trails to loop back. Any trails that are a must see? One of my friends has never backpacked before so I want to keep the mileage reasonable.

There are a number of loops and points of interest. My favorite is to park at the Hopper Parking area and hike up the money brook trail to Money Brook Falls, then up to AT/Wilbur Clearing. From WC loops of varying lengths or take the Hooper Tr up to Sperry Rd Campground. If you arrive late in the day, there is a primitve campsite about 1/2 mile up the brook. You can stay at Wilbur clearing on the AT, the views from the Ledges, Prospect and Summit are really good. The Money Brook Trail is a gradual up, The falls is nice on a hot day. Prospect Mt. is a climb (short) and will test your fitness. The Thunderbolt Ski trail is really steep, lots of history. The AT is not that steep except for the northern end. Genererly speaking, views to the east look over cities while views to the west are of unspoiled hills. The AT from Chesire is a nice hike but parking is limited.
