Hello All,
my husband and I are planning a SOBO thru-hike for 2012 and basically just wanted to make sure we're not going to be the only ones out there!
While I'd feel much safer (and probably less bored) giong north because there would always be people around, our schedule won't allow it. So, we're going south. If you're going south too, let us know. Or, if you've already gone south and have any advice or anecdotes, we'd love to hear it. Thanks!
You won't be lonely when starting out. Later down south things will definitely thin out, but in New England you will likely have company most every night at the shelters.

me and my boy trill phil are headed south on june 1st. we'll prob see ya sometime...when is your springer mtn ETA?

Hey :) DH and I are doing SOBO next year - hopefully! My current employer is closing its doors Dec. 31 and everyone else wants to give me part-time minimum wage :mad: so we'll have to see if we can swing it! Leaving end of June, no official date set yet. Hope to see you out there!

Hopefully heading out August 1st at the latest. I'll find out my exact date by October, but due to a wedding I'm leaning towards a late July start.
Looking more and more like I'll be headed south, or possibly a flip flop. Get done with an internship May 25, so it'd be a start-of-June sort of situation.
Not looking forward to the Baxter bugs — I live an hour from the park now and have experienced the viciousness of black fly spawning season!

I'm going South. Flying to Maine on July 19 or August 1. A little concerned about winter weather in December. Can't decide if 2 weeks will make much of a difference. Could use the dough 2 more weeks will give me. Any thoughts?
