My son, his friend and I hiked on the AT for the first time this June. We had an awesome time. We started at Mcafee knob and went south about 40 miles. I would like to thank this forum and all the great people we met on the trail. Everyone was very willing to help with info about water,distances,shelters, and towns. We had a fun night with a group of hikers at Niday shelter I believe. We laughed most of the evening and when we woke they said a deer was walking all around us in the night. What a good time. Hopefully next year I will be blessed enough to do this again.
