July issue of Blue Ridge Outdoors had this short article - I remember someone asking about getting credit for hiking a little while ago - and here is one place they wrote about.....
Hike the A.T. — Get College Credit Forget a semester abroad: Emory and Henry College in southwest Virginia is offering a “Semester-A-Trail.” Students can get college credit for hiking all 2,200 miles of the Appalachian Trail this spring and summer. Students have to become certified in Wilderness First Aid and prove their backpacking chops before striking out for the mountaintops. They can earn up to 12 hours of credit in a nature writing course upon completion of the hike.
