Spotted Chaco Taco's name here. (Hope this hasn't already been posted a whole bunch of times)
A pretty good piece, but as usual with most of the media it offers bad advice at times. For instance, It is not "possible to walk the trail without a tent," at least not responsibly. Shelters are often full. To suggest otherwise does a disservice to those without experience on the trail.
Yes knee damage is possible. Though hikers who know enough to pace themselves properly, are very unlikely to have such problems.
and the "chaco taco" guy isn't our Chaco Taco from NC now living in NH.... of team "chacopac"
