No !!! Mid July thru mid August is prime time for thruhikers in Vermont. We have been at capacity for a couple of weeks now.
Vermont gets the bubble of northbound and southbound thrus at the same time of year. Contrary to trail rumors, they get along well together !!!

I just spent a few days at the Long Trail Inn in Killington, VT and met many thru-hiikers there (I would say at least 10-15 thru-hikers). This was around July 8th.
