In TN/NC. GSMNP. Between Russell Field Trail and Boat Mountain Trail. It was only a 2.9 stretch but I really liked it.

I live one hour away and the hike closest hike to the AT takes 5.1 miles to get there. But DAMN it's a grueling 5.1 miles for the most part!

Will go back soon for a longer AT visit. Probably next week I hope.

Met some nice people today, saw a black bear and a couple of BCS that were pretty nice.

Hiking the AT is all I've thought about lately. Too bad I have a job! My goal is to hike all the AT is the GSMNP by this time next year. It's just about 70 miles. Doable!

The AT is a great place to be whether long miles or short.

Welcome to the woods. GSMNP is a great place. I hiked it in May 2010 and had a great time.
