Has anyone hiked the trail and stoped in towns to use self help groups such as AA, NA and all those others .... not that im interested but someone else here might be?

When we all rolled into Vernon, probably around July 1st or so in 01, there was an AA meeting being held at the hostel, I don't know if that's a regular thing or not. Maybe call them if you are interested.

Most Churches along the way have some sort of meetings or can direct anyone to get to attend one.

The best self help group I have found is Hookers, but they are very hard to resupply, like alcohol in Georgia. I could not find one until the Partnership Shelter north of the Grayson Highlands, and even there they would not deliver, unlike pizza. I had to hitchhike into Maurice VA. There were some in Damascus but Lone Wolf had them all booked up.

I live not far from Harpers' Ferry and can brief you on AA meetings there. Camp Hill United Methodist Church right in HF not far down the street from the ATC has AA meetings at 7:30 PM on Tuesday and Sunday nights. Also lots of good meetings throughout the week and at different times in nearby Charles Town.Also, I know that West Virginia has a toll-free number for AA to call for help:1-800-333-5051. Look up "AA" in any local phone book in any town and you hopefully will find a number to call. Many times an AA member will come pick you up and take you to a meeting.
