My brothers are in town and we are planning a 4.5 day hike and my girl friend is going to meet us on wed night or early Thursday morning. I was wondering if anyone knew of any sections where this could work out well. I was thinking maybe hoping on the trail near the Mount Massive summit. I have my dog so the first part is a no go.

How much time do you have to acclimate? Most people need a day or two to get used to the higher elevations.

Also, will you have a car? Will you need a shuttle to or from from the TH?

Finally, how many MPD?

These variables can help pick a good hike. :)

They have been here for almost a week so they are pretty acclimatized so far. We climbed Bierstadt on Friday, I was thinking we could pull off about 12 miles per day easy. I was thinking about starting in jefferson and hiking to breck. that is 32 miles so I think we could pull that off from with a few hours on Monday then all day Tuesday and Wednesday. Then have my gf meet us at the trail head in breck. Then drive to copper mountain/frisco trail head spend wed. night there then hike to mount massive area thru friday. The question I have is there a shuttle that travels from that area back to copper mountain? Does this sound reasonable?

As of this year, there is a $5 bus that goes from Leadville to the Frisco Transit center. From there, you can get a bus to copper. The bus from Frisco to Copper is free! You could hike massive and hike the CT to hitch into Leadville pretty easily. From there, take the
bus.

Here are the deets:

Summit Stage: Summit Stage is the free bus service that goes along the various mountain towns. You could catch a Greyhound bus to Frisco and from there take the free Summit Stage Bus to the trailhead just outside of Breck/Frisco or to Copper Mountain. Naturally, you can reverse the route and take the Summit Stage from the trailheads at Breck/Frisco or Copper and go to Frisco and catch a Greyhound or Amtrak back to Denver (or Durango). http://www.summitstage.com/ (http://www.summitstage.com/)
As of Jan 2011, the Sumit Stage also connnects Frisco to Leadville for $5. (http://www.summitdaily.com/article/20091216/NEWS/912159983) Makes doing seciton hikes easier!

Hike from Breck to Tennessee Pass (near Leadville). I think it's about 35 miles. Probably my favorite stretch of the northern half of the CT.
