...really; regarding White Blaze forums. That is a common term on any forum. The administrator(s) and moderator(s) my "sticky" an item of importance. It will then always show up at the top of each sub-forum. Say the moderator for the "for sale" area types up a post of the rules for sales, they may then 'sticky' it so it is always at the top of that sale forum.
People will then refer to the "sticky".

For example, I'm mod of a few forums such as Get Togethers (http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?107-Get-Togethers&s=&pp=40&daysprune=-1&sort=lastpost&order=desc). If you click on the forum, get togethers that are coming up will be stuck. Once they're over, I'll unstick them. On the CDT forum (http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?414-Continental-Divide-Trail), I'll stick useful threads that should be read first if you're considering a CDT hike. Important info that doesn't go away.

Oh crap.

Sticky just means that it has been deemed an important enough topic to remain as a top thread regardless of the posting times.

Better?
