Hiking from Hot Springs to Spivey Gap US 19w next month and was wondering if there is a place to leave a vehicle at US 19w? Safe? TY.

I had to check my notes on parking, and I've parked in the "lot" at Spivey Gap (19W) twice. Both times were in 2009, and there were no incidents of vandalism when I parked there. The parking from what I remember is just a small pull out on the side of 19W where the AT crosses with room for only a few vehicles.

There are is not a lot of room at the Spivey Gap trailhead. 3-4 max. You may want park inside the Spivey Gap Rec area, or arrange parking and shuttle with Uncle Johnny's.

I heard there was a good size turnout not far from where the trail crosses USFS 278, if the gate is open.
