RIGHT TO HIKE ANNOUNCES 4th ANNUAL ELLA’S RUN FOR OCTOBER 8, 2011Georgia’s Own Credit Union On Board as Presenting Sponsor and Mud Run Added (Atlanta, GA) – Get ready to get dirty Georgia, as Right to Hike, Inc. gears up for the 4th Annual Ella’s 5k, Fun Run and Festival at The Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center on October 8th, 2011. This year will feature an optional aspect of the course that requires the competition of a mud run. "This year we've added a "Mud Run" event. It will run concurrently with the 5k trail/road race through a series of mud pits and a steep muddy climb before continuing to the finish at the Heritage Center. This will be a separate registered, timed, scored and awarded race from the 5k." explained by, Sean Pfister, Race Director for Ella’s Run.
This will be the Fourth Annual Ella’s Run honoring the beautiful, young life of Meredith Hope Emerson. She lost her life while she was hiking in the North Georgia Mountains on New Year’s Day 2008. In response, a group of Emerson’s friends and co-workers created a non-profit foundation to honor their friend.
As in years past this event will continue to encourage participants and spectators to bring their dogs to enjoy this special day. Registration will include the race, a custom long sleeve t-shirt, and a festival complete with food, a beer garden, door prizes and vendors. Early registration is available from now until September 17th on www.active.com (http://www.righttohikeinc.com/typo3/ext/vs_enews/mod1/eNewsTracker.php?act=click&camp=9&url=50c7104e3a5d570e32fa27d359dbe7f5). Prices will increase after that day and day of registration will also be available.
This year’s event also brings the very first presenting sponsor for Ella’s Run, which will be Georgia’s Own Credit Union (http://www.righttohikeinc.com/typo3/ext/vs_enews/mod1/eNewsTracker.php?act=click&camp=9&url=7cb103a3290c2ce97bc65462c7c3e1c3). “We are honored to be part of an event that brings the community together to promote safety and the outdoors while celebrating and remembering the life of Meredith Emerson, said Kelly Garmon, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales. “While our business enables us to help others achieve financial success, our goal is to make a positive impact in the lives of the people and the communities in which we serve.” Georgia’s Own Credit Union provides financial services to over 170,000 members in Georgia and nationwide, and has 24 branch offices, including their newest branch in Buford.
All proceeds from this event will go towards Right to Hike’s main focus of donating emergency cell phone units to local parks, trails and greenways. Thus far, the group has donated three phones, one each at The Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center, The Suwanee Greenway and the new Gary Pirkle Park in Sugar Hill. “We are very proud of this initiative and we are thankful for the support of Ella’s Run and the partnership with Georgia’s Own Credit Union. We will be able to expand our reach and focus in order to make the outdoors even safer for our communities," says Brent Seyler, Vice President of Right to Hike, Inc.
