Saw this video on BPL's site, and it intrigued me enough to check out their site, and to send an email to their customer service people about the weights of their sandals. This was the response I got back:

"A pair of Original Lunas with the naked top comes out to 125 grams. Throw in the 3/8" elasticized laces at 37 grams and you have our lightest laces/sandal combo at 162 grams. A pair of Leadville Pacers (naked top) without laces is about 146 grams. The LeadCat is our heaviest at 270 grams per pair."

The Leadville Pacers have a more robust tread than the originals, and might be a decent compromise. $85 plus shipping with elasticized leather laces for 6.5 ozs a pair. http://www.lunasandals.com/

Half the weight! At some point i'd wonder how they'd act during a swift creek crossing. They ain't eggsactly Tevas, eh?

my chacos weigh more than trail runners, but the thicker sole allowed me to bounce down the rocks,
