So I have the sawyer 3 way (http://www.rei.com/product/801824/sawyer-3-way-inline-water-filter), Jen and I have been using it since Waynesboro VA and it certainly gets the thumbs up. My only question is how durable are the hollow fibers? I'm supposed to back flush it by connecting it to a water faucet but I don't have a very good idea of what water pressure is reasonable and what water pressure will break the filter.

I think normal house faucet pressure is fine for back flushing it. There are several variations of this filter. The basic filter should last a long time. How long the connectors/hoses/fittings last is something you can judge -- does it look durable?

I'm not worried about the connective pieces, I've just been having this paranoia that I'll turn faucet all the way up and pieces of the filter will come shooting out.
