Hi Everyone

I have posted on my website an interview
with Joan Young, the first woman to
entirely hike the 4600 mile North Country
National Scenic Trail. She is a section hiker,
doing different parts of the trail each year.

The interview is in a question and answer format
and she has some really interesting answers.
Check it out at

For those of you that are unfamiliar with
my website, it is strictly a non-commercial
website that is my little service project
for hikers. I am best known for photographing
trails so that other hikers can see what
the trails are like. I have photographed
the Kekekabic Trail, Border Route Trail and
the northern 80 miles of the Superior Hiking
Trail. I have also photographed 50 miles
of the NCT in the Chippewa National Forest
as well as parts of the NCT in Southern
Michigan. And closer to home, I've done
several day hikes on the Ice Age Trail.

Regards from me, Todd McMahon aka Tman

Thanks. You have to admire a section hikers "sticktoitiveness" especially over 23 years.

Thanks for this TMan. Joan is a great trail advocate, not to mention a great friend.

Tman, thanks for the interview.
That MN hike was one of the four best hikes I've done. Backpacking with Joan is a unique and interesting experience. Our small group took nearly 2000 pictures. After the hike Joan put all the pictures together in order.

Thanks. Seems alot like my late friend Kay Wood who was a church friend before I knew about her trail experience and a most humble person.

Hi Todd,
It is hard to just pick three; probably the 100 mile Wilderness in Maine with my two younger sons, a 70 mile loop trail in NE Lower Michigan with my middle son and perhaps my first backpacking trip , nearly 35 years ago, about 140 miles on the NCT along the shore of Lake Superior, also with my middle son when he was 18.
I don't think the photos of our Arrowhead hike are posted anywhere online.
