wbdent I could not pace the opportunity to stop and take this picture while out on my sled. This is the sign at Moxie Pond in Maine coming down off Pleasant Mountain. This was taken 13 February 2005. This is the reason why Maine has not south bounders starting in February like they do in Georgia.

What's the problem????!!!!!! That dusting of snow looks like it'd keep a hiker nice and cool and be easy to walk on and even effortlessly skate down those bad-on-knees hills!!!!

Are you saying that snowmobiles are the reason that few hike the AT in Maine in February?

Fortnuately, there are many trail sections in the great state of Maine which one does not have to share with sledders.
