View Full Version : New to the hammock thing
So now that I have a hammock for my wife and myself. What should I know. I have the HH Ultralite Backpacker. I think my dog will be sleeping with me in my hammock. We will see how that works out. This is infact the heaviest part of my gear besides food.

I have Standard Poodle. She is currently 30 lbs. But will get to about 50 or 60lbs. This would be slightly over the hammocks limit, but I have heard lots of people going over with no probs.

I have a 65 lbs. Boxer. She insists on getting into the hammock whenever I test knots and gear at home. She is much more comfortable in my Speer hammock than my HH, as she can see an escape hatch easier. I have approached 300 pounds with her in the hammocks, without problems, yet.
Try it out at home before bring your dog on your hike. Of course, many of us feel dogs and trails don't mix well.
My dog does not even leave my side when we are out side. Which may be a problem scrambling.
