View Full Version : Kelly Stand Rd badly damaged
Kelly Stand Rd (Stratton Arlington Rd) will be closed for a long time westbound toward Arlington, Vermont. I believe it is still open eastbound from the trailhead at the base of Stratton Mt., but it is a long way to any sort of resupply or accomodations. The road is usually a bailout point for injured hikers.
This is the only (gravel) road between Bennington and Manchester, a 40 mile section.
When you say eastbound, you mean from the trailhead at the bottom of Stratton correct? I heard that road was closed as well but maybe it has reopened?
Thanks Yukon, I edited my post....eastbound from the trailhead is still the only portion open right now.
Is the Deerfield River bridge washed out, Jeff? What all damage do you know of?
Have not been down there. Most reports come from an area closer to Arlington. Here is a newspaper link. It loads slow...give it a minute:

Thanks, Jeff. Feel bad for the poor guy whose house was washed downstream. Wow!

I think I read somewhere that the Kelly Stand roadway was being repaired and was to re-open in the Fall of 2014. Does anyone know if that is still the case?
Still a lot of damage up there from that hurricane a few years back. GMC has alot more trails than the AT to repair and its a work in progress.

Have heard reports like that too...but optimistic at best. Probably will reopen sometime in 2015.
