I am planning on hiking Fontana to Davenport Gap in the near future and hoping to leave my car at Fontana for the trip. How safe do you think parking at Fontana for about 5 days is?

Thanks.

If you'd just doing one vehicle, then consider putting your car at the Big Creek Ranger station on the north end and shuttling to Fontana. I did that three years ago and it worked fine; got into the Fontana Hilton mid-evening just after dark and had a fresh start the next morning for my first day.

I've left my car at Fontana Dam twice with no issues. I would not hesitate to do it again. YMMV

I have left a car at the Fontana Marina twice for 3-5 days with no problems.

Thanks for the info. Is there a "best place to park"? I guess i can simply ask the folks inside, but since I have this thread going, this is easier :-)

Just left my car there for 4 days. I was advised by the person who shuttled us that there has not been any vandalism in years. Parking in the lower lot near the store and restrooms means your vehicle is more visible.

As another option, you could park at The Hike Inn and have Jeff shuttle you over. Would also be a possible option to help you get back from Davenport.

Could also park at Fontana and get Curtis to take you back when you are done
