Are there such a thing? Something I could hang/clip to my waist belt or should strap that I could keep my water bottle handy. My new pack doesnt have easy to reach mesh pockets and I'm not gonna stop and take my pack off everytime I want some water. Suggestions?

I've used a caribiner on mine a couple times but I don't like how much it flops around.

Have you considered using a platypus (http://cascadedesigns.com/platypus/hydration-systems/big-zip-sl/product)?

Easy to make one. Small biner, small cord lock and 8 inches of cord. Make A loop with cord and run through cord lock loop through biner and ready to go. Use cord lock to tighten around bottle neck.Biner to where you want to attach.Works well.

I have a platypus and a nalgene canteen and Im dangerous with both. I always forget they are full in my pack and i lay back on my pack when resting and it squeeze the water out of them.

Mountain Laurel Designs has shoulder strap bottle holder: http://www.mountainlaureldesigns.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=46&products_id=71

I use a variation of what Big Guy suggests: two loops of shock cord with cord locks attached to the front of the shoulder straps. These will hold a variety of water/gaterade bottles at the top and bottom of the bottle. Very similar to the ones on the ULA pack straps: http://www.ula-equipment.com/catalyst.asp

I just have a really hard time envisioning what shock cords and loops etc should look like. Im the kinda chick that needs pictures and a diagram!

I use a SmarTube drinking system. It's comprised of a drinking tube and different caps that fit standard water bottles thus eliminating the need to buy a hydration system with a water bladder. http://www.bluedesert.co.il/ The component that makes the system work is the one-way valve. If I can't get a SmarTube cap to fit the water bottle I have, I drill the cap and fit the the valve and tube. The SarTube can also be found on E-bay.

I made my own shoulder bottle holder by tying a jug knot around the neck of my bottle which hooked to a biner, and limiting bottle swing with a large rubber band around the bottom of the bottle. It worked ok, but could definitely be better.

I bought an OR water bottle holder a few years ago that velcros on my hip belt in the front but I don't know if they make them anymore. Works great!
