How would your equipment list change if money was no object. Is there some piece of really expensive equipment you would get?

I would get a cuben shelter and a couple of more sleeping bags or quilts.
New shelter I'll get soon anyway but the sil nylon has worked for several years, so no hurry to spend$$$ for a few few ounces.

Sherpas, oh hell yeah, I'd hire sherpas!!! Then they would carry a huge tent, dutch oven, ice chest filled with dry ice, ice cream and 20 lbs of hamburger, generator for my heater and portable air conditioner, bug zapper. Oh yeah, I'd hire a blonde Swedish massage therapist to go along as well. I'd be everybodys friend!!!
I could also have a helicopter pick me up on top of Katahdin after summiting. The sherpas would have to walk back down, but the massage therapist goes with me :)

I need a new sleeping bag - down one. I'm also for the sherpas! I've often wished we could take a nice llama on the AT.

being a big fan of the msr hubba id like to have a carbon reflex one. cant justify 500$ for it when my hubba has served me well. would be nice to just be able to try out lots of new stuff, like a hexamid. think i would like it but not spending that kind of money to find out.

I'd probably buy brand new gear but keep what I already have.
For sure my sleeping bag is getting old (4 thrus on my "Hummingbird")
My Go-Lite Breeze only has one, but lots of other traveling and getting a bit worn. (but still OK)
Maybe I'd buy some new Frogg Toggs (I think the new ones work slightly better than older ones)
My tent is fine, maybe reseam seal it?
I'd buy a new data book. Not necessarily for new data but, they take a beating after a thru.

Oh yeah, some new socks.

stealth bomber.useless for the trail, but really cool! for the trail, a butler would do.or a portable self propelled Pizza Hut.

if money where no object.. I'd bring along everything including the kitchen sink.. since I'd have the money to hire someone to carry everything!

titanium pot and utensils.
I'm still carrying a pot from many years ago that I bought from walmart. it's nice and black on the outside, and dented. It has memories, and character.

If I had all the money I needed, I could buy back all my time and hike all the long trails whenever I wanted.

Snort!

If money could buy time, I'd grow up and get a real job.

I would also have some custom clothing made. I would like some good hiking pants that fit like a regular pair of khakis, not super baggy.

Why not just hike in regular pants? A lot of old guys would wear their old work pants and shirts. They worked fine. Wool and polyester, maybe a cotton-poly or silk blend.

The Lite Series Western Mountaineering sleeping bags look pretty good to me.

They usually do not dry as well. Rough Fabric.
I wear that stuff at work for 12 hrs. I can't wait to get out of it. It gets a little sweaty the first hr, never drys and gets heavier as the night goes on.
I've had my eye out for some wool slacks on the cheap for a while. I do think they would make good cooler weather hikers.

Perhaps a custom made cuben tarp / tarptent. Already have all the other stuff.
