Just wanted to see if anyone has tried out this sleeping bag. I realize it isn't the lightest one out there but I am not looking to break land speed records or do 20 mile days either. This sleeping bag is meant primarily for winter hiking in north carolina. Seems like it has pretty good reviews and it beats out all other winter sleeping bags in price by far. Please let me know what you think.

BPL did a review on the Cosmic 30, and though it was a great bag at it's price point.

Just got a Kelty Cosmic 20*. Slept in it once in the house. Way nicer than my syn's. I do not like the double zipper but a diaper pin can take care of that. For the price I am way happy with it plan on using it thru the Shenny's in two weeks.

The down fill is only 550 down, which is probably I believe the cheaper quality down fill, which doesn't insulate as well as say 800 down. The one thing going for it is it has a good decent price, but obviously this is the reason. If you plan to do winter hiking, I would pass and spend a little more for a better bag.

550 fill down insulates as well as 800, it just takes a lot more of it, so the weight goes up.

I am new to the site as a reply-er (I've been a lurker/researcher for some time, though), and have been looking at sleeping bags myself. The bag you called out is much cheaper at Amazon, at least in regular size: http://amzn.com/B004K1GQDA

carried the kelty lightyear 15. Has similar specs as this one. Anyway, carried it most of my thru and it was a great bag. Retired it afterwards though but feel like I got my money's worth
