A couple of years while hiking with some friends we traveled twenty three miles (near Grayson Highlands). The day before I ran into a thru hiker who did 31. What is the most you've hiked in one day?

My longest and perhaps most grueling hike was when I was on a cross country bike trip with Toe (we were both in college about 23 years old), I ran into the Grand Canyon flew the bike accroos and walked from the South Rim to the North Rim, not sure of the milage but I sure remember the hike.

33 into Katahdin Stream Campground to finish my thru-hike the next day since the weather was looking not so great for the days afterwards. Totally worth it and easy terrain to do so. Only other 30+ the whole trip was a 32 out of Kincora.

Probably around 15 miles and that was enough for me.

32 miles for me, with a 30 miler just a few days before. Way more than I really enjoyed doing... I like to max out at 20, or 25 in easier terrain. At least when I'm in thru-hiking shape. Nowadays I think 15 is my upper comfort limit... stupid desk job.

I did 26 into The Doyle in 8 hours with 70 lbs. If it hadn't been pouring down rain I would have gone on because the Doyle was full.

Low thirties for me, both with and without a pack. My biggest day on the AT was officially 29 miles, but that's not including a mile to and from an Italian restaurant.

But what about the next day? I favor day-to-day consistency over one big day. On the AT, I routinely hiked 100 miles in four days, resupplied, then did it again (at least in the easier sections--not NH or ME).

Almost 25 miles once with about a 28 lbs pack. My feet felt like hamburger -- that seriously sore/raw feeling -- and I was exhausted at the end.

I remember a kid in our town when I was growing up.
He pissed over a railroad box car.
I saw him do it.

52 miles from Finland to Lutsen on the Superior Hiking Trail in northern Minnesota. It was a trail race so it was supported and without a pack. But I'm counting it as "hiking" because the trail was tough enough that I spent more time walking than running:rolleyes: (it took me 15 hours, 42 minutes). My quads were shot for at least a week afterwards.

I swam 2.4 miles in open ocean then ran 26.2 miles thru lava fields of Kona, Hawaii. Not sure if the 112 mile bike ride that climbed an old volcano in between counts but if it does I travelled total of 140.6 miles in 12 hours 47 minutes. ....yes, that's where my trail name originates from.

I go slow and enjoy nature, I take my time to get to the end. To me the journey is more important than the destination. I love meeting so many unique and awesome people. My last thru I did it in 7 months, I think my highest mileage day ever was no longer than 12 miles I think?

26.2 trail miles from Pinefield to Calf Mountain shelters in SNP. Of course, that doesn't count the detour to the wayside for breakfast and a blackberry milkshake ... another 2+ miles round trip.

See one cat did 60 clicks. What limits me these days is common sence, Sure I can still do 40 or 50 clicks, but what for? So I have to figure out how to fix my toes and trick knee. Always found whe I was young the distance had to do with water.

Robert Rogers and the Rangers did 35 clicks slept a couple hours and theb attacked. They killed like 25. Then humped out to camp 4 on the Ct. River, I always get confused if Major Rogers is a Marine or a paratrooper? Or just a straight leg 11Bush

Anybody meet Dwayne from Florida in 2010? He hiked from Whitecap Mountain to Katahdin Stream campground in one day. Something like 71 miles, then got mad that the rangers wouldn't let him summit that day.

45 Miles, Cosby knob shelter in GSNP to Hot Springs. It took 24 hrs I had torn some legiments in my ankle and my wife and I made the rush on Hot springs before the swelling got to bad (which it did). That ended our thruhike this year, but we will be back this coming year.
