I have read, 300 Zeros, BareFoot Sisters Southbound, BareFoot Sisters Walking Home, Average People; Extraordinary Trail, A Walk for Sunshine-3rd Ed, Skywalker, and AWOL on the Appalachian Trail. I enjoyed them all, each has its certain flair and how they relate their hiking experiences. Try any of them, you won't be disappointed. By the way, I read them all on Kindle.. I also have a collection of books by Henry David Thoreau - "The Main Woods" for deep introspective look at the outdoors in general. Reading his books while on the trail seem to evoke a deeper meaning and respect for the outdoors. Good reading.

Just finished "Barefoot Sisters: Walking Home," loved it. Bought their 'Southbound' to read next month when we hit New Hampshire.

(yeah, I'm reading them out of order....Walking Home was on sale for my Nook, decided to get the "real" version for NH)

I've read quite a few AT books. AWOL on the Appalachian Trail is my favorite. I've read that one twice. Good book, fun to read.

My favorite is "A season on the Appalachian Trail" the author follows a group of thru hikers and then interviews them one year and then 5 years after their hike. I also read Barefoot Sisters, Awol on the ATa, Bill Bryson about 5 books.

"Cactus Eaters, How I Lost My Mind and Almost Found Myself on the Pacific Crest Trail" by Dan White. Funniest book I've read in a while.

"Becoming Odyssa: Adventures on the Appalachian Trail" is a great book too.

A Walk in the Woods. FTW!

Yep thats the one I started on. Was looking for the first Barefoot sisters thru google books(on the phone) but all they had is walking home. Don't want to start the second book without reading the first one. Kinda like watching the end of a Movie then starting it over and watching the beginning, just something I can't do!

Kevin, yes that is a good book I read to my daughters all the time. But neither Mowgali or baloo have done the AT.

I wanna read up while my ankle heals over the winter on what I should prepare myself for when I decide to give some sections a try come next Spring hopefully.

Bill "Skywalker (http://tinyurl.com/7rdcc8y)" Walker's book, SKYWALKER, HIGHS AND LOWS ON THE PACIFIC CREST TRAIL (http://tinyurl.com/7rdcc8y), is currently FREE on Amazon Kindle. I think it is only free until tonight at midnight west coast time. So, you can get a free copy if you hurry. As a fellow author I would ask that you give Bill a fair review in return on Amazon.com. We authors that work with small presses and publishers cannot afford big advertising budgets, we have to depend on you, the readers, to get the word out.

Bill is a great guy and a fellow author. I have really enjoyed his books. Oh, and thanks for the nice comments here about THREE HUNDRED ZEROES (http://tinyurl.com/248ymjg) (it is also on Kindle (http://tinyurl.com/2cvecyg)). I'm getting tons of wonderful fan mail about it. Now, if I could turn that fan mail into reviews...
