I will be thru-hiking this year and I plan on planting a box in each state. Keep your eyes peeled over at Atlas Quest (http://www.atlasquest.com/).

Be aware that it is ilegal to leave letterboxes or geochaces on many of the federal lands you will will hike through along the way. This inclues a large amount of the trail in Northern new england.

You are correct! In places where it is illegal to plant on the trail I will be planting in towns.
